Disney was founded in 1923, by Walt and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, and established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and theme parks. It is the world's second largest broadcasting and cable company by revenue, which - in 2014 - was more than $48 billion, and it employed around 175,000 people.
