The company can trace its history to the Minneapolis Milling Company, which was incorporated in 1856, and it is now headquartered in  Golden Valley, Minnesota. It claims that each day, it provides 60 million servings of ready-to-eat cereal, 27 million servings of Yoplait dairy products, 14 million Nature Valley bars, and 5 million Pillsbury cookies. General Mills has annual revenue of more than $14 billion and employs around 35,000 people.
