Headquartered in San Rafael, California, with 7,500 employees and offices worldwide, it was founded in 1982 by John Walker, a co-author of the first versions of AutoCAD, the company's flagship computer-aided design (CAD) software, which in 2014 remained the world’s most widely-used CAD program.
