Alstom is a French multinational company involved in electricity generation and transmission, and in rail transport, with headquarters in Levallois-Perret, west of Paris.

Formed in 1928 by a merger of two companies, it now has a presence in around 100 countries, annual sales of €20.3 billion in 2013/14, and around 96,000 employees. Among its claims to fame are that it builds the fastest train and the highest capacity automated metro in the world. Its services for the power industry cover a range of energy sources, including hydro, nuclear, gas, coal and wind.
