BASF Creator Space

Creator Space is BASF’s collaborative online space where users can join industry experts to share and discuss ways to produce tangible solutions to a range of economic, environmental and societal challenges.

The knowledge platform was launched in part to mark the German chemical giant’s 150th anniversary and has been accompanied by a six city Creator Space Tour to explore sustainability and innovation in a live environment.

Creator Space is part Allianz’s thought leadership platform, Knowledge, part GE’s Ecomagination Challenge and part Linkedin in the way it shares knowledge, promotes collaborative action and encourages community connections to help tackle sustainability themes such as food, urban living and smart energy. The platform is anchored by multiple blog posts to prompt discussion within the Creator Space community.

The site also provides a space for major corporate stories, and few have been bigger than the company’s 150th anniversary. So, amid discussions on clean air, traffic congestion, and roof gardens, in April 2015 Creator Space carried coverage of this event where more than 1,000 international guests from government, business, science and society attended the celebration, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Minister-President of Rhineland-Palatinate Malu Dreyer.

Sustainly says

Creator Space is a lively and appealing space for discussion around important sustainability issues. Its challenge will be to get contributors other than BASF employees to get involved in discussions and to continue the momentum needed to make a content site like this a destination people want to be part of.
