Barclay's LifeSkills looks to prepare young people for working life

Banks have been seeking various ways to rebuild consumer trust and restore their reputations.

British bank Barclays has targeted the younger generation with its LifeSkills campaign.

A dedicated site, and associated social media channels including apps for iPhones and Android devices provide interactive help in preparing for the world of work, including how to create your resume and understanding your finances. While aimed primarily at young people there are other dedicated sections for parents, business and teachers - the latter being offered resources in the form of lesson plans for the classroom.

Notably the program also is officially endorsed by City & Guilds, the long-established UK vocational qualification organization which dates back to the 19th century.

With more than 124,000 Facebook likes and 9,000 Twitter followers, it appears that LifeSkills is already reaching its audience. In February 2015 Barclays announced that more than one million people had participated.
